Planning Policy Officer / Senior Planning Policy Officer
Hertfordshire | Hybrid (1 day in office every 1–2 weeks)
Start: Late/early October September 2025
Contract: 6 months
Rate: £35–£45/hour (Inside IR35)

I’m working with a council in Essex who is seeking a Planning Policy Officer or Senior Planning Policy Officer to support their policy team on a 6-month contract. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of local planning policy in a flexible hybrid working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation, review, and implementation of the Local Plan and associated policy documents
• Undertake research and evidence gathering to support planning policy development
• Draft policy reports, consultation documents, and committee papers
• Engage with stakeholders, including the public, developers, and statutory bodies
• Monitor and report on planning policy performance and housing delivery
• Support public consultations and represent the council at meetings and events

Requirements:

• Experience in planning policy within a UK local authority
• Strong understanding of the planning policy framework and relevant legislation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines independently

• Duration: 6 months
